Roatan is an island off the coast of mainland Honduras, it has a much lower crime rate, it’s largely English speaking, it’s smack dab in the middle of the second largest coral reef in the world, and there are direct flights from Houston, New York, and Miami. The lower crime rate, beautiful natural surroundings, and fewer crowds make it an ideal Caribbean destination.
