🍜 7. Eem

Location: 3808 N Williams Ave
Vibe: Thai barbecue meets tropical cocktails

I still dream about Eem. Imagine a place where bold Thai flavors meet smoky Texas-style BBQ, and somehow it works perfectly. I love Thai food and still mourn the loss of Portland legend, Pok Pok, which is why I was over the moon to discover the existence of Eem, one of the most funky restaurants in Portland.

Order the White Curry with Brisket Burnt Ends and thank me later. It’s creamy, spicy, and smoky all at once — comfort food with attitude. The cocktail list is equally wild, with tiki-style drinks that look like they belong in a movie.

It wouldn’t be a best of Portland list without including a food cart. Matt’s BBQ is out of this world delicious. Texas-style ribs & brisket are dished up in a humble, fixed-location food truck with picnic tables.
