For those of you wondering, “Is Dresden worth visiting?” The short answer is yes, but I would recommend only a day in Dresden. The long answer is yes, and here’s why 24 hours in Dresden is enough to see all the highlights. Dresden, located on the banks of the Elbe River, is a city that effortlessly blends history, art, and natural beauty. From meticulously restored historic buildings to awe-inspiring museums and picturesque landscapes, Dresden offers a myriad of reasons to visit, but most are conveniently located in one central area, can be seen in a day, and still leave you time to buy some great German souvenirs.

How to Get From Prague To Dresden

We made our Dresden visit from Prague, Czech Republic. Luckily Europe has state of the art trains and cities are very well connected. The train to Dresden took us from the main train station in Prague to Dresden Central Station. From there it was a short walk to the city center and most of the places to visit in Dresden.

Train tickets from Prague to Dresden cost $30 US. There are several trains per day, though I recommend you leave early to give yourself the most time in the city.

You could also take the bus to Dresden, but taking the train from Prague to Dresden is the most comfortable way to get there.

How Long Does It Take To Get From Prague To Dresden, Germany

The trip from Prague to Dresden by train takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes. With 4 1/2 hours of travel time total, this allows you to spend plenty of time sightseeing in Dresden.

The train is high-speed rail, making the Prague - Dresden train a good value. You’ll spend less time traveling and more time on your Dresden Itinerary.
